Sample Healthy New Year's Resolutions for 2018
I will quit smoking!
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of death and disease in the United States. Cigarette smoking kills more than 480,000 Americans each year, with more than 41,000 of these deaths from exposure to secondhand smoke. In addition, smoking-related illness in the United States costs more than $300 billion a year, including nearly $170 billion in direct medical care for adults and $156 billion in lost productivity. These numbers are very troubling, but there are resources you can use to help make quitting smoking easier for yourself. Call the Missouri Tobacco Quitline, 1-800-QUIT-NOW. There also may be smoking cessation programs available in your area, research online.
I will exercise at least 3 times a week.
It can take at least 2 weeks to really get into a routine and stick to it, so challenge yourself to exercise at least 3 times a week for 2 weeks. Hopefully, once those 2 weeks are over, working out will feel more like a routine and be easier for you to keep doing on a regular basis.I will cut back on eating out.
The temptation to eat fatty foods is all around you, at the mall, at your kid's ball game, even on your lunch break from work. Try planning your meals weekly. Pick one day a week that is less busy for you and plan out some healthy meals for that week. If your meals are already prepared, then you may feel less like giving into temptation and going out for a fatty food option.Get Healthy with Central Ozarks Medical Center in 2018!
