Description
Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC) is excited to announce an opening for a Float Lab Assistant for our clinics. We are expanding our team to serve the needs of our community! COMC is a non-profit, federally qualified health center that serves more than 18,000 patients a year in Pulaski, Laclede, Camden and Miller counties.
COMC is looking for a team member who is comfortable working with patients from a diverse background. A successful candidate will be a motivated, self-starter able to quickly adapt to new and changing situations while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Responsibilities: The Laboratory Assistant will render professional quality health care to patients, under the clinic provider’s supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Must be aware of and comply with required services and data, according to the Health Care Plan and the Quality Assurance Plan of Central Ozarks Medical Center.
• Must provide courteous service to all patients.
• Will collect and prepare blood samples for inspection.
• Will assist in maintaining the laboratory and radiology areas in proper condition.
• The Laboratory Assistant will assist in maintaining an inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and prepare purchase requisitions, for submission to the Practice Manager, for needed supplies.
• Will assist in recording information, collecting specimens, labeling specimens for identification.
Requirements
Qualifications Requirements: Must be comfortable using computer hardware and software as well as computerized equipment. Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Central Ozarks Medical Center. Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted medical standards. Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate, regarding medical records and laboratory procedures. Must be CPR/BLS certified or become certified during the probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment with COMC.
Education and/or experience: GED or High School diploma. Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate lab testing. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
Mathematical Skills: Knowledge of fundamental math, adding machine, calculator, and Microsoft office.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Other Skills and Abilities: Strong phone etiquette and excellent customer service skills.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This includes moderate physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting or moving over 50 pounds of weight.
Travel Requirement: To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to all COMC locations may be required. The employee should have a valid Missouri driver’s license.

Knowledge of, and compliance with, HIPAA and 340B regulations is required. The confidentiality of patient information is mandatory.
