Keep It Healthy This Winter!

Winter 2021 is here! By now, your kids have likely had at least one snow day. What did you all do that day? Did you go outside and enjoy the snow? We hope you got the chance to make some fun memories with your kids. That being said, our health clinics at the Lake of the Ozarks are here to give you a few tips to "keep it healthy" this winter, in this week's blog. If you are needing to schedule a doctor's appointment for one of your little ones, consider Central Ozarks Medical Center. It's not just about what we do, but how we do it that matters.

DON'T FORGET TO REST!

Kids can get so excited that they forget to come inside and warm up, so remind them. You don't want them to catch a cold.

SAFETY SHOULD BE A PRIORITY!

Ice skating can be a very popular activity to participate in during the winter, so don't be afraid to let your kids join in. Here are some things you can do to help make for a safer ice skating experience for your children:

  • Be sure their ice skates are tight enough to where they won't rub on their ankles
  • Consider having them wear a helmet
  • Make sure they understand all of the rules of the ice skating rink
  • Supervise your children while ice skating

YOUR CHILDREN SHOULD BE DRESSED WARMLY.

Dress your children in warm layers to where they won't get cold right away when walking outside. They say to dress your children in 1 more layer then you would yourself, as an adult. Keep an eye on the wind chill too. Keep as much skin as possible covered to help prevent frostbite.

WATCH YOUR CHILDREN.

Prevent your kids from wandering out on to the road or from "rough housing" by keeping a close eye on them while playing in the snow. Suggest a fun activity for you all to do together, such as making a snowman or  snow angels.

All of us here at Central Ozarks Medical Center hope you enjoy yourselves this winter and that you all stay healthy! Have You Gone In For Your Flu Shot Yet?

Flu season is here! Have you ever got your flu shot yet? If not, we encourage you to do so. You may feel intimidated but there's nothing to be intimidated about. Our staff is friendly and kind and we are here to help. Our health clinics at the Lake of the Ozarks are here to give you a few reasons why you should get your flu shot in this week's blog. Central Ozarks Medical Center - Where it's not just about WHAT we do, but HOW we do it that matters.

Have You Gone In For Your Flu Shot Yet?

STOP THE SPREAD.

The flu can be highly contagious, unfortunately. This means if you contract the flu, you could be giving it to your children, your spouse or significant other, your friends, and possibly anyone you come into contact with.

PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN.

Children can get the flu too, it's not just an adult illness. Ask your doctor what the best shot for your child's particular age would be. According to the CDC, "Everyone 6 months of age and older should get an influenza (flu) vaccine every season with rare exception."

THE FLU CAN BE DEADLY.

Flu-related deaths have already been reported this year. The flu is no laughing matter, while it's not always fatal, the fact is that it can be. So, why not protect yourself from this potentially fatal illness by getting the best known defense against it, a flu shot?

THE FLU SHOT ONLY LASTS SO LONG.

Some people may think that one flu shot lasts forever, but it doesn't. The best thing to do is to check with your doctor on the type of flu shot you're getting and how often you should be getting it for it to be effective.

GET YOUR TOP PROTECTION.

According to the CDC, getting your flu shot is the best way to prevent yourself from getting the flu.

"An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to help protect against flu. Vaccination has been shown to have many benefits including reducing the risk of flu illnesses, hospitalizations and even the risk of flu-related death in children."

Give Yourself A Fighting Chance Against The Flu!

Our health clinics in Mid- Missouri all hope you found this blog enlightening and helpful if you were undecided about whether or not you should get a flu shot this year.
